Can bichirs be kept with fancy goldfish in a 90 gallon tank, taking in consideration that i already have the bichirs and the fancy goldfish in different tanks at room temperature.
I would say, no, because I wouldn’t mix cold water species from Asia with tropical water species from Africa. Goldfish do best in temps of at most 74F, while bichirs do best in 76F+. This was a quick google research that shows that they live in different temperatures.

Not to mention that bichirs are a predatory specie and have horrible eye sight. Even if the prey is far larger then the bichir is there is still a good chance that it would cause allot of damage to the goldfish if it did decide to bite on. Also even if the bichir never went after the goldfish the goldfish could easily harm the bichir by mouthing it all the time, goldfish are allot like plecos in the fact that they feel a need to mouth everything and everyone in the tank and this could easily harm the bichir if not stress it to death.
If you have them at room temp and they’re doing well, it could work as long as they’re around the same size. If you try it, just have a back up tank in case it doesn’t work. Be prepared for lots of maintenance tho since those are very messy fish. I’ve had a Warmouth with my bichirs for two years and everything is fine although a Warmouth is considered a cold water fish.
