Hello all, I have a tiger oscar that is about 6 inches long in a 60 gallon tank in my living room. Until recently the oscar just cruised around the tank relatively calmly until feeding time. Now it aggressively slashes around mostly at the front, bottom, center of the tank. What could this be. is it natural behavior for an oscar to be so CRAZY?

PS. he is also injuring himself pretty often resulting in not a very attractive fish...

(55 Gal.) 1 Oscar, 1 Convict, 1 Livingston, 1 Lemon Cichlid, 1 Blood Parrot, 1 Pictus Catfish, 1 Sailfin Pleco, 1 Australian Gold Arowana [Juvenile]
.

If this is happening in your 55 then the answer is obvious your tank is way too small for all those fish. You need at least a 55 just for the Oscar.

Yep if that's the tank stock and all those fish were 2" in less than a month it would be overstalked, overstalked to the max.

Yep, tank is way too small.

Do you have the money and space to upgrade? If not you really should think about rehoming some of your fish.

If that is your stock, your are way over the limit..You need atleast a 6'x2'x2' to house the arowana. If that australian golden arowana is a jardini when it gets bigger it will most likely kill everything and thats still a maybe in the 6'x2'x2'. My advice is upgrade very soon or start rehoming some fish. good luck :)
