Hey all I recently added a 4 inch red hump geophagus to my 85 gallon. I have 2 adult altrifons and 4 5 inch roseline sharks and an L-114 and a few other smaller plecos. This red hump chases the altrifons mercilessly. I thought these Red hump geos were suppose to be peaceful. It is damaging the fins on the Altrifons both which are adults. He does not chase the plecos or the sharks aroun d at all. Plus the altrifons are both double his size. Any one have experiance with the red hump geophagus (steindhart) excuse spelling? I know I have to move the red hump out but isn't this a mild geo like the books say?

Sometimes you will get a individual that act out of the norm. Could be that it has a chemical imbalance in it's brain.

That is why nothing is guaranteed. Fish are like any other living thing they all have different personalities.

Not all Geos are peaceful. The steindachneri type (so to speak) like G. steindachneri and G. pelligrini are not exactly "mild", neither are the brasiliensis type.

It's all relative though. I'd say they are much more peaceful than some other fish ;)
