I finally got my black piranha, this thing is sweet. He's about 6" and as crazy as my 9" inch red devil. As soon as I walk in the room he's all over the glass, I have him in a 75g tank by himself, is this normal behavior for a rhom. If anyone has any info on these guys, please post.

im jealous...my rhom hasnt come in yet :'(

I would not say it is normal for a Rhom, but it sure is a trait that 70% of Rhom owners wished their fish would have! Lucky SOB. Post a picture of the fish for a positive ID because alot of times "blacks" do not turn out to be Rhoms, but some other type of Serra instead.

You are very lucky especially if he is crazy at 6".. I had a 6-7" er that hid in a clay pot for 99.9% of his life.. By far the most boring fish I have ever kept.. I did not have the patience for him to grow up and come out of his shell..

i use photobucket and copy the HTML code

at what size did you get it?
did he have hiding spots? besides the pot
how was he at feeding times?

i think if you had the rhom at around 1'', and raised it since. it would be alot more aggressive and wouldnt hide all day. also, water quality and tank size makes a difference.

I got my rhom a couple weeks ago, water quality is always at its best, awsome filtration, it took maybe a day for the piranha to get comfortable in his surroundings. one large peice of drift wood in the tank.
