Just want to share this with you guys, but my carpinte is seriously crazy. >_>
She originally shared a tank with two red forest jewels and got along fine. Upon an addition of a male convict within a minute she changed into full-on breeding dress on and went crazy, chasing the male aggressively, even forcing the male into a corner as she nipped at him. Then she decided to chase the two red forest jewels that she got along fine before and even the other fish in the tank, before proceeding to tear the entire tank apart, re-aquascaping everything.
And then just as suddenly, she went super passive and starts running away from... everything, except a female convict that was later added. She chases the female convict all over (sometimes the male convict chases her whilst she chases the female convict... strange to watch). This went on for a long time, and eventually everything chases everything else (except the male convict doesn't get chased anymore). Finally the tank settles down and earlier today the super green disappeared completely.
For like 3 hours I tried to search for her everywhere but there was just no signs of her. She couldn't have jumped out coz there are lids, but I searched every nook and cranny and couldn't find her until... I saw a flash of a tail fin. Finally I found out that she had dug an entire cave UNDER a slate that I had placed into the tank. So now every time she appears out of there again she terrorizes everyone, even the male. And also destroys everything she sees. =.= Mind you she's only ~3.5 inches long. =_=
So yes, that's my female carpintis, going back and forth between being the terror of the tank to the coward of the crew. =.=
