Strange, and IMPOSSIBLE, but true story.
I bought a tiny 2" Pike Cichlid at the LFS labeled simply as "wild Trinidad Pike" around a month ago. This beast has nearly, if not, doubled its size in this short period of time.
I put two ~ 3" Yellow Tail Baracuda and two Transparent Knife in the tank after being quaranteened. Knowing that the Yellow Tail Baracuda are skittish, I made sure that there was no "open space" in the glass lid to allow "jumping out". I was worried, but suprised and amazed, that the Huerta "Rocket Gar" actually seriously seemed to "school" with the two smaller Baracudas.
I woke up to find the Huerta Gar and one yellow tail closely schooling. There was flat out no second baracuda in the tank and not on the floor. A mystery???
The following day I woke up to only one of the two transparent knives left in the tank! No mystery!!! The 6+" knifes tail was all that was hanging out of the 4" pikes mouth. How does a 4" pike eat a 6+" Knife?
