The Land Of Fish Lovers
Hi C.R.E.A.M. friends. I might have the opportunity to add a 12 inch Nile Perch to my Pbass 560 gallon tank. What do you guys think about that? Any pros or cons about adding that fish to my current set up? Anyone here have lots of experience raising up a Nile Perch?

Do it if you think it's worth it. I don't see why it would hurt.

I was just wondering about compatibility between the species. I don't want the perch to fight with the bass or vice versa? Wondering about the temperament??

I have no personal experience, but I know that's a real monster. From what I've seen juvies are killer cute, but they supposedly grow in leaps and bounds. With potentials upto 6 ft and 400 pounds that's one scary proposition. Someone who takes as good care of their Pbasss at you will probably have no problem getting that bad boy to grow at wicked speed. Unfortunately I think in this case taking good care of this pet would backfire on you. Perches are crazy pred's and easily capable of taking down prey of immense size in general and I imagine it's goes double for this guy. I think it'll quickly become a threat to the rest of your collection and you'll probably have to worry about re-homing it so quickly it wouldn't be worth it. Personally if I was you I'd try something like a VATF or even GATF as a tankmate. I think that would be a nice look with your set-up or maybe a Siniperca Sherzeri if you wanna stay with the perches. They have a body more similar to your Pbass so I imagine predation is less likely than with the high bodied Nile.

I have no experiance with the nile perch but a killer for sure they are if it was gonna go in my tank i would not do it but hey neo has those mundies with that Orino and it is not dinner yet LOL...Simular shape is ehy i thought of it ....Like always tho it depends on the fish...

I like nice perch.. sometimes it a pain to get them off live but that's the only con.. ll those different perches are sweet fish.. I'm waiting for some chuatsi to come my way.

Thanks for all your opinions and help guys, so I decide not to get the 12 inch Nile Perch due to it's adulthood size and I would not be able to house it properly in the future. I have been wanting a new addition to the show tank. It has been a while since I got anything new and was just looking for a cool new fish to enjoy and raise.
Koltsix I have already had a Vittatus as well as an armatus in my pbass tank in the past. I had to get rid of both of them because I was noticing scratch marks on some of my pbass from sharp fang like teeth. I never found out who was to blame but to be safe I got rid of both of them in order to keep my pbass from any damages or stress.
And again, thanks to all that took time out to help me!
These are just some old photos of them both...

What you need is a nice fat black wolf, they are super peaceful.......lol. I think the perch would be fine until he out grew the others, then rehouse. I would pass.

get a FOGO, I think Wetfishdreams.com has them for 135 bucks.
