Hi All,

I am just wondering what your thoughts are on regarding creating oxygen in my Aro community tank.

Tank is a 6x2x2 with 1 Green 1 Spotted Gar 4 Bichirs 4 Clown loaches.

Yea i would not do the air stones as they look rather rookie-ish in large tanks.

i would guess with that large of a tank your are using a sump for filtration?

And if it made you feel better you could add some air stones under the bio chamber of the sump.

+1 for all you need is decent filtration. I do not know why so many people try to over think this part.

none of those ways listed above create oxygen, what they do is increase gas exchange where co2 and oxygen diffuse either into the air from the water or into the water from the air.

airstone would probably be the most efficent form of gas exchange.

never mind I'll play nice

Ive used air stones but right now I think the ac110 and the eheim spray bar and the fluval 405 create plenty of surface movement. I got a power head to that pumps water through the UV and that agitates the surface quite a bit. My favorite method is airstones though but I have no need for them (except my sponge filters on 3 of my tanks)

if somethings wrong with my logic say it, as im here to learn.

since its gas exchange that keeps oxygen levels stable as the fish use the oxygen. i chose the option that i thought would give air the most contact with the most water.

sostoudt-------I am sorry just saying that I sounded like a A hole.

i was just wondering how someone would go about actually CREATING oxygen and then get it in there tank?

As you said --- none of the methods listed actually created oxygen, but they just helped with gas exchange. Which is completely true if you get very technical about the subject.

IMO all we can really do is use the available atmospheric oxygen levels thru gas exchange.

Although i have allways wondered about using compressed oxygen and injecting it like we do with planted tanks and CO2.
