creek chubs and bluegill?

i am setting up a 55 or 75 gallon this summer, i was wondering if chubs and bluegill can be kept together. there is a creek like 100 yards from my house that is loaded with them. and even some small catfish but what do creek chubs eat also, i plan on feeding the bluegill small fish and other live foods and i dont know what the chubs eat. what else do i need to know about chubs like extra supplies that i need to keep them healthy

I have a small like one inch bluegill in with a 3.5" creek chub right now. They live fine together but im kinda worried about when the bluegill grows up. If you are gunna try it I would start with small bluegill and big chubs. Just make sure the chubs aren't big enough to eat the bluegill.

will chubs eat small minnows? i want to get the smallest chubs possible and the smallest bluegills possible, i really want to get the 125 tank ive been wanting so i can get a baby bass or see if i can get some bluegills to spawn for me

Yea my friend had a chub that took down all his neon tetras. But I don't think you will get anything to spawn without a chiller. You need to simulate winter and spring conditions. Good luck.

You could try to keep them together but like chad said, the creek chubs would need to be larger. They are capabile of growing rather large and as long as they cannot be eaten by the bluegill they should be alright, unless he kills them for other reasons. For food the chubs and bluegill will eat just about anything. Flakes, frozen foods like bloodworms and brineshrimp, earthworms and other insects, pellets and various kinds of plant matter.

Creek chubs will eat anything they can fit in their mouth also, including small fish.

I have gotten some of the smaller sunnies to spawn in an unheated tank.

Nice Job! Some of my first sucessful breedings were with sunfish.

It's amazing what kinds of fish can be kept together. I once had a 7" oscar that had two 3" flathead minnows in with it since it was a baby, and he never touched them.
