I've had this tank for awhile, and is now making these creeking noises. Should I be worried?

Can you tell if its the tank making the sounds or the stand?

It sounds like the tank. I am worried because I've had this tank for about 4 years and I bought it used. How long would a bow front last?

A tank should last forever and a day if its properly looked after, however the seal is another question.

Seal breaks down over time, and wear. Sometimes just being exposed to the elements can degrade it..

Maybe just a good reseal is due.

but if a seal is starting to fail it wouldn't make a creaking noise.

it has to be either the floor underneath the tank (does it happen when you appoach the tank or walk by?)

or the stand is creaking. this is bad.

if the flloor is creaking it could be just the way the wood is, or it could be bad news.

either way, you need to identify what exactly is causing the noise..

Ok that helps-maybe it isn't the glass. It is hard to tell.

If the seal is wearing out would it just leak or completely come apart? If it is the stand then that would be really bad.

if the seal begins to fail, most of the time it just starts to leak.

very rare that it fails completely (ie whole seam splits open)

but if the seals look to be in good shape I doubt its an issue.

tanks should last 20 years without a reseal.

Cool, thanks!
