Well Jacek, not very familiar with this species, since we can't really get them offered to us here in the states. Seems like you guys over yonder can get all the freakin awesome pikes! LoL!! Jealous of you am I definately! Anywho, they ARE a type of Saxatilis pike, which means they aren't gonna get much larger than 12" respectively. They will be pretty thick, and can have an attitude, but won't get as large as their Lugubris 'cousins'. Thats still a large pike though, and can do a lot of damage.

I'm not familiar with the max size on your SH, but as long as it doesn't get too horribly much larger than the pike, it should be alright, as far as eating goes. Aggression might be a different issue. Pikes generally don't like other fish that look like them, unless they are a pair or what not. So there is potential to be some aggression issues due to the fact that the SH looks similar to the pike. Make sense?

Anywho, hope all is well with you over there! Feel free to ask many many more questions! I'm sure others will chim in as well! BTW...I'd get some definately! Just cuz they are freakin awesome!

thanks PP :) make sense but from other hand...I talked with guys that know people who have this 2 species in 1 aqua. more than 1 day ;)

channa asiatica will be 14" maximum size. if its true that albopunactata can get only 8" that seems that might be a problem. of course I can establish a new aqua :) but I want to try channa with crenicichla. I can also buy lenticulata which can't be eaten for sure....so don't now. help guys .

That's crenicichla offer for now from place from in Germany when I buy:

Crenicichla lacustris "Itapemerim" 13cm
Crenicichla sp. "Xingu I" 7-9cm
Crenicichla acutirostris 14-15cm
Crenicichla sveni 11-12cm
Crenicichla lenticulata 9-10cm
Crenicichla albopunctatus "Demerara" 12cm or 20cm

Xingu is too much known for me
lacustris and acutirostris are too thick :)

sveni I don't now - probably larger than albopunctata but also thick

help!

What do you mean by 'thick'? Crenicichla acutirostris and lacustris are both pretty slender pikes....;). Crenicichla lenticulata would be your best bet though, as they definately stay larger, and can definately put up with the aggression of the SH. I'd go that way! Can't go wrong with a lent! :D
