i have a question about the pikes. Do they get any aggressive At all cause i have been reading info on these fish doing my research. Just concerned cause i have some red heads in my 125 and my LFS has some for sale and i wanted to grab one cause they look Awesome with their colors it Would be a great addition to the tank. thank you

By red heads I'm assuming you mean Geophagus sp. 'red head Tapajos' ?

Its really hit and miss to be honest with you. If you did, you would want to stick with Saxatilis group pikes or dwarf pikes. The Lugubris group pikes are too aggressive in my opinion for Geos. to reach their full potential, especially with finnage. In a large enough tank it can work though. By large enough I mean 150gal or larger. Its not guaranteed though.

Take some pictures of the pikes that your LFS has for sale and we'll help you ID them and figure out if they will work or not.

Thanks that sounds great ill be there tomorrow and they are not redhead tapajos they are gymnophagus redheads that only get around 5" not to big i was honestly thinking about getting rid of them for a trade at the LFS for one of the pikes. And then he will be in the 125gallon with a datnoid, Peacock, and a Geophagus hekelii i dont know much about the Tankmates since i have not looked into research that far. I was only really looking at what kind of Water perimeters they need and what diseases they are susceptible to. And right now i read that They can get HITH fairly easy, Which wont happen in this tank as i keep it well maintained. Ill see what i can do tomorrow and will for sure post a picture of what they look like so i can do more Research on these fish before i go out and buy something i dont know much about. Thanks for the input much appreciated.

my pikes, sax and bellycrawlers, never bothered any of my geos. i think if you stick with a smaller species you'll be ok.

The hekelii is not even close to being aggressive, Just eats like a pig, And is getting bigger. But the Major problem i might have is the datnoid cause he scares anything out of his little spot he has He is really aclimated well to the tank just likes the corner for some reason. I will get the pictures today later on. Thank you
