They have four at my lfs I plan on getting them all... they are about and inch an a half... What is their growth rate ? I know they max out at four... but I have a big 3 inch texas ...
You'll definitely need lots of hiding spaces. I got four and they all tried killing one another. In fact, one did get killed and another one lost part of his gill and his whole pectoral fin. I now have them separated into various tanks in the house.
I'm actually getting by with 3 in a 45 gal (heavily planted, lots of rocks, driftwood, PVC). They do nip at each other on occasion, but I have yet to see damage done.
On the topic of C. compressiceps, is anyone fimiliar with the variant that has striped unpaired fins in both genders? I'm having a terrible time with figuring out the gender.
I have 5 in a heavily planted 150 gallon with 4 regani's and a few other dwarve cichlids. Mine only eat frozen food or live food. They ignore pellets and flake.
I've had mine for about a month and they have grown but I wouldn't say they grow fast. Make sure you have lots of places for them to hide. good luck
