Crenicichla Compressiceps

Does anyone have experience with these? I was wondering if one would be ok with severums. I have cherry barbs in the tank as dithers but can be moved. Will they attack the severums? And how aggressive are they? I only want one since I know they do not like other pike cichlids.

Mine were fine with other cichlids (both normal and dwarves) as long as the other fish didn't start fights. Jack D's were killed despite being 2 and 3 times the size of the compressiceps because they kept trying to threaten and bluff the compressiceps. But they left dwarf acaras alone as long as they avoided their caves.

With dithers, if the head is small enough to be grabbed, they will be killed even if the can not be swallowed. Larger dithers were ignored.

I have had mine for a few days housed with a bunch of non aggressive geos, corries, tetra etc and he acts like on of the group begging for food.

As I mentioned there is no aggression in my tank so that could be the reason he is so mild mannered. After doing a little research they only seem aggressive with other pikes and fish that bother them. I have never kept severums but hear they are a little pushy which may not fare well with the pike
