I have a few questions for the pike experts.

How large do female johannas get? Would they be a good tankmate with a large male GT, Lyonsi, Breidohri and female Bleekeri in a 150?

Rapps currently has a few sizes available and I'm very tempted.

Im picking up 2 of those johannas today. Ill let you know how they turn out. This my first time ordering from Rapps. This my first time ordering fish period. Pikes are just sort of rare in my neck of the woods.

Should be just fine. The only issues I had with my pikes were with each other. My "Venezuela" and my johanna hated each other. Other than that, they got along with all the other cichlids.

Yeah, pikes are very aggressive conspecifically. In other words, they don't like other pikes generally. As juv., Lugubris group pikes will stay in groups, but as they mature they will get more and more aggressive towards each other and, as often is the case, towards other tank mates. It really is up to the pike whether or not the tank mates will be aight. As for the pike in your situation, the pike will be just fine..haha...you might have to watch it around your other fish for a few days. When first introduced they can be skittish as well...so watch that the other fish don't pick on her.

Are you gettin that large female Brazilian 'rainbow' johanna? If you are, be sure to get up pictures! Would love to see her! been tempted to get her a couple of times meself! ;)

Sorry about that.
Peanut Power, I may get the large female. I'm not sure. I've had cichlids for a while but I've never had a pike before. I have a 150 with 10+" male GT, 9+" male Lyonsi, 7-8" male Breidohri and a 8" female bleekeri. I know all cichlids have their own personalities so it's hard to say what will work and what will not but "on average" do you think a female Johanna will work out?
Plus, how large do the females get typically?

my female grew to 9"'s and ruled my 125g tank till it died of a parasite, she even beat up on my male when they were both about 5-7"'s, now my male is 7"'s and growing nicely in my 90g tank.

They should get quite large, 12 to 14" generally. Although I have seen pictures of a 16" pair...they were massive. Some localities get larger I suppose. The Brazilian rainbow race that Rapps has right now would be a beautiful ful pike indeed, especially a female. Personally though, I would dish out the extra $25 and get his 'Rio Tapajos' female Crenicichla marmorata. Its one of my fav. variants of the marms...absolutely gorgeous females. They do get larger than johanna, and can be more aggressive, but are way more showy.

I need a fish farm like oddball or something, cause I dont even look for new fish anymore LOL

Ha...I know the feeling. I'm only lookin for a few fish right now. Can't afford to look for too many till i get more tank space. Haven't checked out the buy/sell in a few weeks...tis kinda difficult...haha. Best way to resist buying new fish though is not to tempt yourself.
