i have a 58 gallon 36"x18" with 8 gymno quillero and some tetras in it im doing a uruguay tank and was wondering if a minuano would be ok in this sized tank with my 1.5" gymnos the only possible upgrade will be to my empty 75 but i like this tank thanks so much for the help

Id be worried about the pikes making a meal out of those little geos....

No the pikes will tear those Geo's to shreds, or even swallow them whole lol. You could put the Minuano's in the 75g and then grow out the Geo's, and when they get at least 3-4" you could put them in.

yeah i wouldn't get a pike those geo will be gone.

Minuano SHOULD be fine, we have a pair of 6"+ (over sized) Minuano with rainbow fish, Otto's and juvie (about 2") Geo. Abalios, NO losses or aggression, not to mention all of the angel fish. Minuano are one of the exceptions to the rule, usually. They are not piscivorous, they love snails, shrimp and insects. Joedodge, how big are the Minuano that you are looking to buy? From Ken? I would move the whole lot to the bigger tank. Get em small and you will have no problems IMHO

awsome thanks yes i was gonna look at what ken has when he gets back my plans are to move them to the 75 eventualy itl just take a lil time to transfer tanks thats all i already have the 75. thanks for the advice i will look into getting one

Completelly agree, as other pikes from rio uruguay, minuano are not especially piscivorous and not so agressive with other fish. Dont know what kind of tetras do you have but geos should be ok with the minuanos. Good luck!

I have minuano and gymnogeophagus in my 75. Minuano aren't particularly aggressive, they aren't going to kill the gymnos, but they might try to eat them.
