Here is my "bonded" pair of punctata blue 33 pikes I've acquired from Ken from southeast exotics and tropicals or fishfarm ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1422337007.640937.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1422337028.757149.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1422337052.705695.jpgImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1422337082.390214.jpg
Male is approximately 8 inches and looking like a beast he's in the top 2
Female is in the bottom 2. The male has killed a missioniera female that jumped the divider overnight... Tried adding another pike a Inirida I male about 6 inches and it got its entire head swallowed almost up to its gills and shook like a doll while lip locking. They were immediately separated. Anyways the male chases the female All over the place but after what I've seen him do to a lot of other fish the fact that she isn't dead indicates that he doesn't absolutely hate her and there has to be some sort of chemistry since she's only 4-5 Inches lol. Most pikes I'd imagine aren't as aggressive but these pikes are the lacustris species which are often more aggressive than saxatilis and lugubris.

After maybe a few more weeks of conditioning on NLS, Tilapia and cod they will be put in a 2 Month cool down period I need to take advantage of Michigan weather and spawn these guys! Let me know what you guys think! Thanks for looking

Very nice, I love the blue 33

The male looks completely different, huh!!! That's wild. Good luck. Rainwater , oak leaves, and driftwood helped me in the past getting my water soft enough to spawn other Crenicichla that I've owned.

Yea they did look almost identical in the shipping bag but now they've colored up differently. They're from the lacustris group of pikes the most "desirable" of them being the "malaria" pike (crenicichla lacustris) from the rio ipaterim has red spots all over it.
Which pikes have you spawned zeke? These guys come from rocks and rapids with a more neutral ph I believe... Collection point is in the Uruguayan town of trienta tres which is translated as 33 because of the 33 Uruguayan patriots that returned from exile in Argentina to give Uruguay its independence from Brazil.

Nice fish! LOVE THE XINGU!!

Hahaha that was a accident! Didn't mean to post him up. He's awesome tho and probably a 8-9 year old fish. Full solid 15.75 inches measured. Sure looked a lot bigger though! Ray safe too and pellet trained. Can't even find him a female though. When my 300 is running and my other pikes get a bit of size on them im going to get him back from my friends house and comm them. Seeing how it goes lol I've had reasonable success in comming pikes. Funny thing about the Xingu 1 is they went from being one of the most common pikes to now absent in the hobby... I wouldn't mind paying "a bit" for a nice female... They Completely disappeared. Which is a shame but also good in a way because just any average joe could get them back then and I feel they're too pretty and awesome for some novice to kill when they're being "overfished" in the wild. The Xingu 1 is one of my favorite crenicichla
