Well, its different for most of the pike species groups. The only ones I have kept have been the spangled pikes or Saxatilis group. For the most part, females of Saxatilis type pikes will have a pinkish belly(esp. when spawning) and will carry some sort of dorsal ocelli. As for the males, they look the same, minus what I stated above.

Huge variety in finnage, color, and size. C.Rosemarie has awesome full body color, while alot of the dwarf sp. have great fin color. You can find pikes in Full black dress, to bright orange, to just a dull green-gray color. Most have some good colors on them though.

On the Rio Araguaia, I wish...
Alot of female pikes like the sp atabapo and the tapajos have a white line across the top of their rear dorsal fin as seen in several pics of my female sp atabapo, I'll post a pic when I'm back home for comparison ~Trent
