Crenicichla sp. Añashua Red Bombero

Anyone have any info on these? I can't find specifics. This female and a male that I purchased were collected in Peru.

Thanks. I thought Johanna a well, but the importer used this specific sp. name. There are a few pics out there re: a green variant labeled "Anashua Bombero." I had never heard of this name and wondered whether anyone else had come across it.

it not on my peru list but loads of farms out there! will look on few more and post again tomorrow for you. may look to germany and czech as they have lots of imports on them.

Looks like my johanna, only with an intense red above the lateral line.

Thanks - I think that may be the case. I found the following link to another (I believe) importer list:

Maybe "Bombero" is the trigger for carving it out of "johanna?" Dunno

Here is a better pic of the female. The male is very dark, maybe stressed, but almost violet in coloring. He is buried in a sea of pvc and not photogenic as of yet.
