I was looking through my aqualog book with pike cichlids and they listed a sp. venezuela dwarf that looks alot like my pike. Is there such a thing or is it a misclassification?

By looking through my aqualog book it is either a sp. lugubris, sp. marmorata - there were juvies that look exactly like mine, sp. venezuela, or sp. strigata

non of those are dwarfs if that is what you think it may be, all fish mentioned get to at least 14 inches

No there was a seperate species labeled Crenicichla sp. venezuela dwarf listed as 15-17 cm. that resembled my pike.

I have an LFS who has Sp. Venezuela Dwarf listed on the stock list too?

More than likely the are a regani variant that comes from Venezuela or even more likely, Columbia. I've seen several regani types come through that are simply named after their collection area such as Cr. sp. "Orinoco".
