Crenicichla sp. Venezuela

yes it is true....i had one that i got at about 3" and within the span of about 8 months to a year it got to nearly 13 and very thick. it was mean as hell though. a lot of people have said they are not mean but mine was a bastard and would relentlessly harrass my FH i had in the same tank.
 
Yeah i got mine at about 4 inches 4 months ago, at the time i had a 3" zingu pike and thought they were the same species. 3 months later the zingu got eaten and i was pisses he also beat the crap out of my 8" clown and 10" royal knife and i had to separate him now hes in with my oscars
 
they arent the most colorful pikes but they get MONSTER and have loads of personality. keep him and see just how big he can get....lots and lots of water changes is gonna be key though.
 
Takes a while, but technically they can get almost 24". I don't know if one has ever been kept to its full potential size in captivity...but there is always a first. About two weeks ago I saw one that was easily 16"...;). Very impressive fish, even if it wasn't extraordinarily pretty. They are lookers, cuz they are so massive...lol..
