A few months ago I bought a "Sveni" Pike. I haven't had a Pike in a very long time, and love them - so I went for it. They are rare in this area for whatever reasons. Tonight I noticed that mine has a dorsal blotch - female.
Could you post yours, at different sizes, so I know what mine will turn into? She is about 3 1/2 inches now, and still has the traditional grayish overall color with spangling down the middle, with some vertical lines.

Pike Cichlids are South American Cichlids, in case you weren't aware - but thank you.
Mods, if you see fit, feel free to move this.
Thanks!

Am I the only one with a Sveni Pike? Come on guys :)
PM Peanut_Power, a moderator on MFK and an excellent keeper of Pike Cichlids. He is very knowledgeable and willing to help with questions. I don't know how to properly sex most pikes event though I keep them. You would actually get more help in the Pike Section. They are cichlids but the Pike Section is specifically made for Pikes and their keepers. A few members in the CA/SA section have them but most of your info will come from the specified section. Sveni Pikes are very nice btw. They become very responsive over time. They don't generally bother most tankmates but I have seen mine hold his ground against some pushy tankmates. They will stalk and eat smaller fish in the tank too. So be careful.

Mine is very responsive, and doesn't bother anybody, and isn't bothered by anyone - he has a submissive personality, so when something bigger comes charging around, he goes into his "house" which is a crack in some driftwood. He has a habit of trying to get at the baby fish in the next aquarium over which is funny to watch.
