I already have a full grown spangled pike And went to my lfs to get food and saw a juvie Venezuela and he was cheap so I bought it on an impulse an have him in my 120. Just got him to start eating pellets today our of no where. I know they are one of the larger types. Anyone have one and any info and suggestions? Thanks :)

I have a adult venezuela. Far as info I suggest reading this http://pikecichlid.com/art-lugubris.html

From my experience mine has not been too aggressive, a huge eater, and very interactive. A 125 to 150 gallon should work for life. Mine is in a 150. temps around 78°f theyalso like a ph of 6.5-7.

Also here is a quick video of mine.

Good luck with him they are wonderful fish.

Thanks that was helpful. He's growing real fast and ate 8 feeders I a night it's crazy. I have some silver dollars a fire mouth and a Senegal bichir with him and I plan on putting my green Texas in there soon do you think that will b a problem?

The texas may be ok as long as hes around the same size. It still all comes down to the individual fishes personality. Just watch the tank for a while after adding the texas. Having a decent amount of decor to break line of sight and provide territory will also help.

Pretty laid back unless it thinks it can fit something in its mouth. I have never had any problems with larger fish. I might worry about the bichir depending on how big it is. It could be viewed as food. The vennie will grow pretty quickly also.

I had one in my old cichlid tank approximately 2 years ago, grew big fast, but mine was very aggressive, and harassed everything in the tank including my big paratilapia and black belt...eventually gave it to another MFKer
