You don't say how big yours is but strigata are one of the large Lugubris group pikes growing in excess of 12". There are currently two different races in the hobby. One out of Venezuela and one out of Brazil. The VZ race is much more common albeit much less colorful. There may be a third but it is yet to be determined if they are strigata.

All are wild caught so you may have to try a variety of frozen foods to see what it's willing to eat in lieu of live foods. Frozen krill, mysis & blood worms are good choices. Once accustomed to these foods you can typically get them eating dry foods. Live bait worms would be a good option as well.

Baby strigata are actually a schooling fish and a lone specimen may be quite shy and hide a lot until used to it's surroundings. Especially if there are larger more aggressive fish in the tank with it. If they are 4" or less, getting another 1 or 2 would most definitely help.

Here's a great article on the Lugubris group pikes:

Hope this helps!

My fish is about 4-5 inches, yes there was a more aggressive fish in the tank(but he has been moved)The Pike took a piece of Raw shrimp but spit it out yesterday.I would imagine this would be the V2 species as that i only payed 10 bucks for it.So i am looking at a foot for this fish??:headbang2

12" is conservative. Given good conditions I'd say that 14"-16" is not unrealistic.

Raising the temp up a bit will sometimes induce a fish to eat better. Try 82°-84°F

No tellin if its a true strigata or Crenicichla sp. 'venezeula' until its almost an adult. They can be a pain to tell apart. Either way, congrats on the pike up man!! They are great fish, you'll soon be wanting more! :D
