I've been planning on getting a crested gecko, this will be my first reptile. I'm planning on buying one from a reptile expo. After researching them, I have a few questions left. I'm planning on using CGD from repashy as a main diet with a few dusted crickets per week. Any opinions on this product and is it only available through buying online? Or is it offered at local chain petstores? Also, when I mist his tank, do i need to treat the water? I have water conditioner I use for my fish? Would it be harmful to reptiles? I also have a dehumidifier in my fish room, would the water from there be fine? Thanks. :D

The repashy is the best. The t-rex sandfire is basically the same but in just one flavour.Tank conditioner is fine, dont use the humidifier-picks up any toxins.

Thanks, I'll probably go with repashy. Also, I forgot to ask would a juvie be fine in a 20 gallon high? I've read mixed results saying thats they're best in a 10g other say 20g H is fine.

I feed my trio the T-Rex brand mixed with mango baby food 2-3 times a week. In between that they are fed dusted crickets and dubia roaches.

I have well water so I don't have to bother treating it. But if you have city water and are worried you can always fill a gallon jug with water and let it sit for a day or so. By then all the chlorine should evaporate from it.

Thanks, I'll probably just do that for the water. I saw your tank build, I'm going to try to do something similar with the back wall since yours turned out so nice. :D

Hey thanks! I was pretty pleased with it for my first attempt. What kind of tank are you getting for your crested? If I could do it all over again I'd probably get an Exo Terra. Those swinging front doors are so handy.

I considered an Exo Terra, but I have a spare 20 high sitting in my basement. Also, what type of lighting did you use? Since my tank will probably be in the basement too. I'm afraid to get a heat lamp because they're so intolerant of high temps.

i would set the tank up first if you are worried about temps. i have a 25 high with 3 well started juvies. i am also using an old aquarium so i have the glass top with the plastic strip in the back. i drilled holes in the plastic for ventilation. i am also in the basement with temps averaging 67 degrees. i am running a uv flourescent for the live plants i have and an incandescent light fixture with 2 25 watt bulbs. my temps avg during the day with both bulbs on at 77.3 and at night from 73-75. you want the cresties in a 72-78 range. ive even heard 70-80 as ok. i am also using the repashy diet. i use crix once a week dusted with calcium.

Make sure you get the Raphasy MRP diet 2-part stay away from the T-rex version when you dust use Rapashies calcium dust for the crickets or roaches and the insect gut load I wouldn't use aquarium products to treat the water use reptisafe or distilled water for .77 at your grocery store keep humidity anywhere from 50-80% and temp no higher then 80 degrees room temperature is fine mine are at 73 degrees. Any other questions send me a private message. :)
