i have 3 cresties, 1 is for sure a male an the others i beleive are female. im looking to breed them the other night the largest of the believed to be females was getting chased by the smaller male. Is this a sign of breeding behaviour starting, also where would they likely lay there eggs an if they do start breeding will i need to remove the other female, any info about breeding cresties would be much apprieciated.

I've been breeding cresteds for a couple of years now so I'll try to give you some pointers. First off, do you know the ages of your females? Because breeding them too early puts stress on them and shortens their lifespan. I wouldn't breed a female until she's at least a good weight and over a year in age (18 months is best). What substrate are you using? My females lay their eggs in either the Eco Earth I use or inside the live plant pots I keep in their tank. Chasing is not a good sign. Are you sure you only have one male? Pics of the trio?

Female crested geckos should be around 35 grams before being bred. You should also have 4 geckos in at least a 50 gallon enclosure (20 gallons for 1st gecko, 10 gallons for each additional gecko). I keep pairs and trios in 50s.

If the geckos are smaller than 35 grams, or the enclosure is smaller than 40 gallons, the behavior is probably territoriality or a feeding response.

The largest gecko is I beleiev to be 40 plus grams and the tank is atleast 40gs. No pics at the moment I no I have a male for sure and the one I believe to be a female is not showing any sigs of the 2 bumps the male has at the base of the tail. Since I saw them fighting thery are now always close together compared to the 3rd which also believe to be female but is around 30 grams. Ill just keep an eye on them all seems ok at the moment.
