We have a male crested gecko and when I feed him his Repashy I will put it on my finger (after mixed with water) and if stuck near his face he will lick it off of me. Feels like an eraser licking you. Pretty cool that he does this.

Might as well ask a few other questions since I'm here and have wondered lately.

1. Would a 29 gallon be okay for a suitable LONG term home. He is in an exo-terra one now and I can tell he is getting cramped.

2. What should his feeding schedule be. We feed the Repashy stuff all except for one day he will get crickets. He will eat the repashy, but loves crickets a lot more. Its like he sees me putting in Repashy and he's like "meh" and when I feed crickets its "gimme gimme gimme ". Lol

3. How long do they live? In a pamphlet we picked up when we first got him I think it said 20 years or something. Just wondering.

Yes, that size is fine for the life a Crested Gecko. They're not extremely active so they don't need giant enclosures. But if you have the cash a larger Exo Terra would be better. I find used ones on CL from time to time.

Cresties just like humans have different tastes in food. I have some that LOVE crickets but hate Dubia Roaches and vice versa. And then I have some that almost never eat any live foods but love to chow down on CGD. I would try to wean your gecko off crickets and have 75% or more of it's diet be CGD. Try offering it to him every 3rd day if he's an adult.

No one really knows how long they can live seeing how they really weren't kept and bred in captivity until the mid 90's. I think 15-20 years is a good estimate.

Mine also preferred crickets over the CGD so before I fed the crickets to him id put em in a cup and feed them the CGD powder which they seemed to love and then he of course would get more by eating them..

I gut-load all my crickets and dubia roaches with CGD. Adding water to it helps to add some hydration for the feeders. I always make a large batch of it when I feed my cresteds and dump the rest in a dish inside my Dubia tub. They especially like it.
