Once my turtles are upgraded out of my 65 gallon, I'll be redoing it as a vivarium for a few crested geckos. I was thinking it would be cool to do a false bottom and have a little stream running through part of it with a little shallow pool in one corner. How would cresteds do with this? Lets say theoretically the actual exposed pool of water is maybe 1-2" deep. Would this pose any drowning hazard to them or anything?

They shouldn't venture into the pool in the first place since they prefer to be higher up. The only problem you would have is the cresties finding food in such a large tank assuming you want to buy some smaller ones to start off. Setting up a vivarium for crested geckos is not unheard of but it will be a hassle to manage.

I don't think it will be that bad. They would be mostly fed CGD and baby food and things like that that would always be in a bowl in the same area. They would obviously also get live food which could be a little trickier, but I could also probably just get a little deeper of a bowl to hold the live insects so the geckos can find them

i have a little pond in the bottom of my cresties viv and he has been known to deliberately jump into it from time to time. make sure its not to deep and he should be fine

Thanks for the input. I'm thinking there will be gravel or something in the water so that it will basically be around an inch deep which I'm thinking would be ok
