Im going to be getting a crested for my 30g tank. Now I have a couple of Q's. I wanted to do a planted setup. How do you set up and clean a planted terrarium. With the river rock, screening, substrate and moss method? And I Will a breeding pair work well In a 30gal? Any info on how to set up a planted tank for cresteds will be great.

well for mine I used a layer of gravel around an inch deep then a layer of window screening and my soil was the plantation soil from the pet store, I have found that this stuff grows plants great as I haven't managed to kill the one in it yet and if you know me, you would now that I kill plants like there is no tomorrow
I would get the soil and such in, add your plants and then put a layer of moss on top if you want, you won't really have to worry about cleaning except for on leaves and grass as the plants will take care of that

and yes two is fine in a 30g

So you just spot clean what you can? Then the natural biological system takes over and Deals with the geckos hidden waste? If this is what you mean than thats great. I figured i would need to remove all the soil and add new soil replant every thing once a month.

Just FYI but crested geckos have a habit of crapping where ever they please. On the glass on plants, they're not picky. I find it's easy to remove it with a spray bottle. Just dial the sprayer so that it shoots in a tight stream and it will blast the poo from off of whatever it happens to be on.

None of mine have pooped on me....yet. I had a close call once. I placed my one female on the arm of our couch and she crapped on it. I cleaned it up without my wife even noticing and she was on the other end of the couch. I guess I'm a ninja.

I did have a male Golden Gecko who crapped on me every time I held him.
