Okay so of course it's possible for feeder fish to transmit disease to your fish, but can crickets or shrimp transmit any disease? Is this a stupid question?

I worked at a fish bait shop for many years and there is a powder that bait stores sprinkle on the crickets before they transfer them from the boxes to the holding cage. The owner allways made us do it outside and told us to wear a mask and wash our hands directly after handling them and the powder. The other workers said that the cricket dust would make you sick. I do not know the name of the powder they just called it cricket dust.
