I got an albino tiger oscar lately that seems to only want to eat live food. The only exception of which being that he eats silversides. I was curious if he eats crickets does he run the risk of catching diseases like when you feed live feeder goldfish. If it is a good idea what should I gut load the crickets with ?

Thanks guys

I fed my "O's" crickets with no probs.

It's very unlikely that a cricket would have anything your oscar could catch. I would guess any standard gut-loading formula would work, or else you can use an enriched cereal like Total or Special K.

We feed our fish crickets all the time and they love it! Its only as a treat though not a staple..

i hear that black crickets can constipate your fish. and have had a guy in a myspace group post that his oscar stopped eating and died a few days later after he feed his oscar a black cricket.

Sounds good. Ill try it as my O will only eat silversides he has no interest in flakes whatsoever. Damn store kept him loaded on feeders what a bunch of idiots.

Im buying some crickets today and I am gonna gutload em up :) Can't wait.
