my dad builds furniture and some times uses acrylic. he made some 2 foot wide by 1.5 foot long by 1 foot tall boxes out of one inche acrylic he has had three extras sitting around for storage and ive been BEGGING him to turn one into a nano reef aquarium. well he finally said i could 
!!!!!! all i have to to is add a front. easy enough.
so i did my measurements to get how many gallons it would be... i got 22.5 ...problem... the lighting i was gonna use was a ten gallon hood fixed with two 20watt compact flourecesnts and a ten watt tube bulb 5 watts per gallon the bare minmum for a ten gallon with soft corals wich was what i planned on setting up. well thats half as much as i need.
but then eureka!!
if i get a sheet of acrylic and put it in half way and fill the foward compartment and use the back for filters id have a little DIY boicube!!! il get pictures soon!!! im stocking it with pulsating xenias, plates corals, kenya trees, and star polyps. and a clown goby
