As i said before, my baby tiger oscar had fin rott and got the crap beaten out of it when i came back from camp. he was looking like a ghost ship when i got back and so i put him into the hospital tank and this is now day 4 of his treatment with melafix.

my main problem is that his fin rot doesnt look like its being helped! though his BIG thrashing wounds from being beaten up have healed some... is the melafix even working? i took out the filter square and all...

below is a pic of what he looked like prior to my camping trip, and the other pics are what he looks like now (4th day of treatment). still very vigorous at swimming with his obvious handicap of a VERY short fin... looks real painful when i came home to see him like this... damn red devil or something.

also there is a pic of what i use to treat him with. and i use 1 tea spoon of it every day and this is the 4th day. am i doing it right? he is in a 10 gallon hospital tank.

thanks for all the help!

I can't see any fin rot, all of the damage just looks like regular nips from whatever was beating him up.

I'd cut out the Melafix and just do daily water changes until he's healed. Concentrate on keeping stress down and he'll be perfectly fine.

oh no believe me, he HAS fin rot. your looking at his body fins, his fin rot was all in the pectoral fins. 4 days ago it was very bad, all melted looking and do you see that pic of him coming towards the camera? that is not an angle shot, his fin REALLY IS that short on his right side.

and his other fins were also way worse, he almost didnt have his pelvic fins 4 days ago when i first got home. all his body fins were ravaged by tankmates, but only his pectorals had fin rot and it was very obvious. im worried about why his right fin is still so short. it was just a nub 4 days ago.

oh and also, notice in the first pic he has a full fin. even his bigger fin in all other pics after catching fin rot, the thin white layer of skin between each flange is worn out and not there. he is basicly swimming with the skeletal frame of what was formerly his fins.

the skeletal frame.

1 characters... atleast im a rbp.

:iagree:I don't think his injuries look too extreme, superficial at best.

Keep him in in good water conditions (partial daily changes), stop the chemical meds for now. If his fins deteriorate more, add a small dose of aquarium salts. Mostly, let his immune system do the work and keep his stress levels low. GL.

Looking better. You're doing good with it.

alright. thanks everyone. this seems to be working his right fin is starting to replenish but... it looks so weird because only the top of it is. looks like a gun.
