Okay a Little Overview.
Here is my current sump setup. Works great, I have Zero Ammonia, Zero Nitrates, and Zero Nitrites, However the only mechanical filtration I have is Filter Floss above the Drip tray, The floss does not do a very good job at removing fine particles from the water, or Micro Bubbles caused by the Overflow into the sump. I need to add a Filter Sock somehow to this setup. However I cannot disassemble the current sump. and am very limited on space.
What I've come up with is to build a Filter Sock Tower, the Tank will drain into this portion, threw a filter sock, and than flow out to the sump on top of the drip tray.
Heres is the design built out of scrap acrylic (the final version will be built from glass, this is just the mock up)
I will be using two Reverse Durso Type Standpipes, (should help reduce air and sound) Left one is from the Tank, Right one going to Sump over drip tray, The cardboard will be a glass divider (And hold the filter sock) please excuse the Orange Pipe caps, Lowes didn't have any 2" white caps (this is still mock up stage)
Back View The open bulkhead will go to the drain from the tank
Top View: The Orange caps will be replaced with proper 2" Pipe caps, with a vent hole on top (and a piece of airline threw that vent hole) Also I've designed this that in case the filter sock ever clog, the water can over flow the sock and still drain properly (No water on the floor)
Finally SQUEEZED in beside the sump to test for space, and the ability to remove the sock (will require removing the T, pulling out the sock, putting in new clean sock, and putting the T back into place.)
