Hi, So right now I don't have it fully set up. But I am in the middle of it. But I need your help and ideas. This is a 29 gallon 30x12x18. I am going to be running low light on this tank, probably a T8 fixture with 3-4 bulbs, or a PC fixture. There will be no C02, but I will be dosing ferts. I will also need your help on what ferts are best. Keep in mind I would like the cheapest route with ferts.
My substrate is eco complete. The plants I have now are 3 Aponogetons (the kind you get in walmart bulbs), 10-12 C. Wendtii plants, Some java fern, and some lily plants growing from bulbs (the kind you get from walmart too). I plan to only keep one.
The fish I will have in this tank is 1 puffer. The fish maxes out at 6 inches and is 3 inches now. I also wonder if this is a good fish choice cause puffer are a little messier than some fish, plus I know with low tech tanks there is no water changes. Or if there is, only several times a year. I drew out a crude diagram of the tank layout, its attached at the bottom.
I marked the plants with letters so you can understand where they are at.
A= Aponogeton
C= C. Wendtii
JF= Java Fern
L= Lily
And all the light green coloring in the front is grass. I need to know what plant is good for that. The object in the back left is a rock cave for the puffer, and the brown object in the middle is a piece of manzanita driftwood. One last thing, the sides close to the front are bare, and I wanted to know any suggestions to fill those areas out. Maybe some small plants or something else. Feel free to give me ideas. Thanks
