so how big does a "crocodile" gar hybrid get? and if im correct there are different combo's to make a croc gar? are they readily available?

thanks in advance, just curious. oh and pics would be nice as well.

im not sure on max size of the 3 croc hybrids, but yes you are correct there are 3 different combinations. and they are also rare and chances of coming across one are very slim. for pic go to www.primitivefishes.com and click on the gar section.

First off the whole term Crocodile gar was coined by the original producer of the Fish, Bernie Krause..

Some Hybrid combinations that have been documented have since been called (by really just Solomon and I on Primitivefishes for quick abbreviation) by a type code.. I.E. Type I, Type II ETC... As soon as we find documentation or work out other hybrids we will Make Type IV or Type V ETC.... These type designations are not to be considered a species or grouping separate from any other known hybrid combination.

Max size on all of these is totally unknown

None have been produced for many years and wild ones are extremely rare. These fish do however show up on the market from time to time... A couple of the Platostomus X Spatula Type I fish have been around and available in the past year. Mike (H2O aquatics) may actually still have one...
