Anyone on this forum keep any crocodilians? Anything larger than babies?

Matt

Well I find that most people around here who buy them, arn't steadily employed, are into drugs and no absolutly nothing about animals and sell their babies about a year later the same size they bought them because its outrgrowing their huge 20 gallon tank.

i will when im 30... 11 years to go lol

I hate people who do things like that. If you arent going to take care of an animal dont buy it. I hate the "but it was cool when i bought it" excuse.

keep it strong friend! keep it strong! haha

I always want to buy a Schneiders Dwarf Caiman (Paleosuchus trigonatus)...

but after reading many books and websites...

Its not expensive.. $150 - $350 each (depend on the species)

BUT

I just don't know how to house a 1.4m dwarf caiman... (thats the second smallest crocodilian)

AND

I have seen Baby Nile Crocodile goes for $200 each here in Ontario

i've always wanted a schneiders dwarf caiman but can't bring myself to get one and probably never will. at a lfs they have probably six to nine gators anywhere from two foot to five foot in a.. oh i'll say 7'x4'x3' tank filled half way with water. i walk by everytime like 'they're sooo cool!' but also feel so incredibly bad because they really have no room to move and no ground to bask on.

if i remember correctly there was a thread on here a while ago about a new setup someone had built for the caiman. try doing a search im sure you will be able to find it. not sure if the user is still active or not.
