I came home today to find both plates of glass used to bridge front to back at the top of the aquarium had become detached. It is 225 gal. I guess the front to back spread and the glass fell. The main structure is intact and still looks ok. Should I be worried? Is the bracing very important? Any suggestions?

Very very important. Only a matter of time before your take bursts. So for right now drain it. And get it fixed

lower the water as much as possible
go to the hardware store and get at least 2 clamps
silicon the glass back into place and clamp
let dry
take clamps off

i have done this to a 240 gallon with fish still in it, it came unsiliconed and it is still holding now

This will depend on the tank itself. Lots of older tanks did not come with a center brace and were made with thicker glass to compensate for this. If it is an older tank it could have been an aftermarket modification done. In which case I would not be worried.

If it is a newer tank than it is an issue. Would require you to drain the tank and re silicone the bracing in place.

In less then an hour my 190g broke open after the center brace came loose. I strongly advise you not to waste time....drain it.

Ok I siliconed the cross braces back. I cleaned all the old silicon away dried the glass and clamped it together. How long should I leave the clamps?
