hi,
i have a cross breeding want to ask!!!
i planning used :
1) Red head Vieja & nice Hump ( Male ) x fade Red Texas ( female ) or Midas ( female) = ? hybird
2) Escondido Carpintis ( Male ) x fade Red Texas ( female ) / midas ( female) = ? hybird
3) golden Flowerhorn ( male ) x Fade Red Texas ( female ) / Midas ( female) = ? hybird
4) golden flowerhorn ( male ) x Green texas ( female) = ? hybird
5) red dragon ( short body / male ) x red texas ( female) = ? hybird

want i really want, i really want breed red texas !:nilly: i know most people will used female ( KKP / Parrot / devil ) cross male (Carpintis / green texas ) for RT! i know it is long process ( many gen x breeding ) , but want o know current!
and if i can get some nice hybird, i would like too!
thks
:grinno:

If you can find a nice female Red Texas then I think you would be at a better start than most. Cross her with a nice Escondido Carpintis and you will get some good fry from the mix. Find a fertile male from the batch of fry and breed it back to the mother.

1) Red head Vieja & nice Hump ( Male ) x fade Red Texas ( female ) or Midas ( female) = could make some nice kamfa

2) Escondido Carpintis ( Male ) x fade Red Texas ( female ) / midas ( female) = ? hybird
3) golden Flowerhorn ( male ) x Fade Red Texas ( female ) / Midas ( female) = ? hybird
From these two you will most likley not get many red texas. Even from crossing a full fader/full pearl srt female and a full pearl escondido you can get babies that look like this

with full fade but not much pearl.
Unless your female is really pearly you will most likley get more non-rt faders than rts

4) golden flowerhorn ( male ) x Green texas ( female) = could get a nice rt or fader pearl fh
5) red dragon ( short body / male ) x red texas ( female) = could get some nice pearl fh sbs

do you have pics of your fish?

hi, everyone! what do you think??? any id ?

First off, NICE FEMALE MIDEVIL. shes a nice girl with a hump. However your rose queen male probably is not fertile. If he is he is worth a ton of money lol but probably not.

I do like your fader male and rt female as well.. I would try them together if they were my fish. I can almost promise you you will not get any red texases out of that pairing, but if you are trying to make nice faders I would try that first. If you get babies with the red heads select for this as it is more valuable and harder to find.

If your female red texas likes your male texas I would also try this... if you are trying to make red texas this would be the way to go. You could get some nice red texases out of this pairing though the full faders will most likley look like the mother.

In response to your question about when she will fade fully.. I ask you where is she kept? is that eggcrate divider keeping her divided in a tank with a larger fish on the other side? If so this is the reason she has put on black dots.
Faders show black as a sign of submission in society. If they do not wish to be the alpha they will cover some of their splendor with black spots to show that they are submissive. This has the added benefit of acting as camoflauge as the less dominant fish always get pushed to the more dangerous areas of the lake or river. So If you want her to fade fully you can just remove her from sight lines of larger fish. if she can see a cichlid she knows will kill her if it had the chance (even if they are not in the same tank) she will put on black in order to show it that she does not wish to fight.

A good way to get a fader to loose its black is to make it the obvious dominant.
I do this by putting the fish in a little show tank filled with smaller female parrots. This situation always makes a flowerhorn feel like it is king. and a king flowerhorn will always show the best colors.

Back to breeding though for a second.. you appear to be interested in red texas. if this is the case, then you will want to make the largest number of red texases possible. If you want to do this, then I would do the pairings this way

Large male texas to female red texas
Large male fader to small female fader

use the divider method (as i see you use) and if all goes well you might just get two fish from those two pairings that can produce a large number of red texas offspring.

thks for the idea,,,

my Fade RT and fade Fh i separater them in 2 side ! but already 5 months... everytime i put them toether, my fh will bit her very damage and tail, look want to kill her, my fade rt always running away ... it mean the female do not like him ? or the fh still young or he dont live her ?
my golden fh have almost 2 years old !
then i try put my fh with my midevil have 2 months, every time same happen, the fh following the female bite and midevil scare away too! reason is the female is bigger the male?
my midevil have almost 11 " inch , and fh only 8" ......

yes, i really interesting get Rt breeding! i try few time, used the( male ) Rt to starting breeding , but every time fail! most Rt male 95% infertile ,,,,
i do not have the big Gt and red head yet! but i am planning to get one of them for breeding ! but not sure which one look better result!
now i may pick up the red head this week, but i read you said if i used red head x Rt or midas = fh kamfa ( not really want fh again ) i knew Rt is fh strain , but i like red colour more!
this is the red head vieja 10"!
