will my yellow labs cross breed with some cobalt blue cichlids, sorry i dont know the scientific names. i can look them up if anyone needs me to.

I don't see why they couldn't cross-breed (yellow-lab X colbalt blue); since they're both mbuna. However, since they would be hybrids, they're wouldn't be a new species (same reason why Flowerhorns are not a new species).

thats the thing. i dont want them to cross. I was hoping i could keep them together but still get separate fry.

OH! If that's the case, all you have to do is have good ratios of each species and they most likely will not hybridize (ex: 1 male for every 3 females). Get around 4-6 of each, and you should be fine.

Hope that helps and keep us updated with your results. :headbang2:headbang2

i too think they could crossbred, as once my yellow lab cross bred with a rusty cichlid which is a mubana as well...one of the fry survived and he grew into a mean yellowish brown fish lol

yea. i have a hybred kenyi/lab and i hate it. Its big and just plain mean. ill give them a shot. the cobalts are young yet so itll be a while. thanks for the info.

hybrids are sweet....they are just good for keeping, not always selling or making friends with purebred enthusiasts.

i want to know how flowerhorns got so popular anyways....they are for the mostpart ugly and look like they could have a brain anurism at anytime.

I have a yellow lab/blue cobalt hydrid. He looks like a light color socolofi - considered to be a wild hybrid by some - with a black ridge on his top fin and light blue, long body.
