Does anybody know if it is possible cross H. rotkiel(red shouldered) with a Turqouise, green or yellow Severum?

Thanks

i always wanted to know the answer to this as well.. i think they would definitly breed but i always wondered what the results would be .. half and half of each or new type severum.. anyway good question.

I have heard of greens/golds pairing up, but nothing regarding Red Shoulders. I saw a rotkiel by itself at the LFS but didn't buy it because I didn't have a mate for it. That's why I considered the cross. I didn't know if they have much different breeding habits either.
Has anybody here ever heard of a Red Severum? I saw them advertised on a web page, but no info on them. Wondering if they aren't something similar to a Red Texas or Flowerhorn.

I've had lots of male rotkiels before and a female golden, but they did not seem interested in the golden severum,
was also thinking if different type of severums would pair up, as it would be interesting to see a super red severum pair up with a rotkiel

i dont see why those types wouldnt interbreed, but i would strongly advise against it, the green severums commonly available in petstores are already so interbred that no one knows where they originally came from, and its always best to keep lines pure whenever possible. i doubt the fry would look that good and definitely not better than fry from a pure rotkeil spawn would, you just dont want to mix species/variants like that because then when you sell them someone might confuse it for pure and try to breed it and then this continues and lines are completely muddied. its hard enough already to get pure species i wouldnt advise against making the problem worse

lol a 3 yr old thread ;)

on the topic though, my rotkeil female and gold male have spawned dozens of times over the past 2.5years. i never raise the fry and they are eaten by tankmates
