I understand that crush coral help to maintain PH. But how do u know how much to put in ur tank and how offen should it be change? Thank

The more you add the more it buffers but it can only buffer to a certain extent. The entire bottom of my tank is coral sand. If you had to change that it would be a real pain. I have $120 worth (40kg). So just experiment with trail and error, test your water before and then after you add a bit, then if you want it to bufffer more and then test it again.

Crush corals are known to increase PH. I have them in a tank with angels, severums, viejas and Roseline barbs...all doing well in the same tank with crush corals. Clown loaches did not do well in it long term. On the other spectrum, to lower PH, I've used driftwood, almond leaves, and co2 and RO water.

The ph level of the water coming out of the tap wil have a great deal of how much crush coral you want to maintain a specific alkalinity level.
