Whenever I place crushed coral in a media bag within my sump, my water is slightly cloudy no matter how much I pre-rinse it. My intake into my sump is filtered with a 16" 50 micron filter sock around 800-900 GPH.

I was considering placing the CC into another 50 micron filter sock, zip-tied, and placed alongside my biomedia.

Anyone tried this. Thx in advance!

Crushed coral, especially finely crushed, like aragonite sand, can turn the water a milky color. The coral sand is dissolved by acids in the water and the result is the white color, that can take a while to dissipate, and because it is actually in solution (as it buffers) it is not filtered out (it is not grit).
I used it in a FB reactor as an aid to buffer alkalinity, and whenever I added it as new media to replace the old that dissolved over time, my water would get milky for a few days, even up to a week if a large amount was needed.
Note the milkiness of the water in the little tank behind the FB reactor.
