The male has just started out staking a territory on an algae covered log.

though quite small, they hold there own with much larger cichlids, I have half dozen in a 150 gal, with Acarichthys heckelli, Guianacara owroewefi, and Tomocichla asfraci
There's a nano in the upper middle of the shot

They look great Duane. I regret ever getting rid of mine.

Strangely I was just looking into cryptoheros for my planted 36 as an option to replace a 5yo petsmart angel when the time comes. They sound like they are ok for plants and my rummynose but how about cherry shrimp? I have atleast 4 dozen so losing a few is ok so long as they dont completely wipe out the shrimp.

always a pleasure seeing your threads, duane.

They don't seem to bother plants that I've noticed, while they were growing out, they were in a smaller tank with anubius, java fern, and a few swords.
I have a refugium with rishi shrimp in line with the tank the nanos are in. I've never seen the nanos eat an adult shrimp that overflows into the tank, but juvie shrimp don't last but a few seconds.

Nice! Any pics of the asfraci?
