There is a local guy here that has some Cryptoheros Sajica cichlids for sale. What are these things going for? This is the first time I have heard of them. They pix he has claims to be the actual parent look really nice. Just how rare are these? He wants $20 for them.

That's so ironic because I will be getting some tommorrow!

Based on what I have read they are less aggressive than convicts and cutteri but are good parents. I have seen them kept with oscars, sevs, livebeares, firemouths, mid temperment fish. They apparently aren't too bad even when spawning and will never kill tankmates just keep them at bay. The females are a real lioness and are more aggressive than the males which get huge nuchal humps even at a young age. The males hit about 5in and females are substantionally smaller. They need typical central american fish requirements(big tank, heavy filteration, etc). I think you can keep a pair in a tank as small as 30 gallons. I've seen a small pair kept temporarily in a 20 gallon with endler's livebearers with minimal damage to the other fish. They aren't THAT rare but it's something you don't see super often. I have certainly never seen them in my area(although I live in a crappy area anyways).

I think that's all I got...

They were rare about 1-2 years ago but should not be hard to find right now. I've shipped off at least 500 of the things so there should be plenty of them in the US. Rapps has also had them on his list for a long time now.

They are a typical cryptoheros. Not as aggressive as a convict but still can hold it's own. They are much more suceptable to parasites and other illnesses then most cryptoheros. They are also slow growers. It will take years for a male to sniff 5". A female is probably going to max out at around 3.5". The are pretty prolific breeders and have large spawns for crypto's. My pair large typicaly has 300+ per spawn.

As far as price that will just depend upon the size, quality and color variation. $20 for an adult is not bad. $20 for a juvy is way to much.

Ya, the guy claims he got them from Rapps
He did get them from rapps and then he threw them up for sale at 50$ a piece .Keep in mind hes a 17yr old kid . I busted his chops personally about them. He got them for 7.50 each and then tried to tell all of the other people that he had the only ones in the state.Obviously it was a lie i know several people including myself that have them here , guess he saw some dollar signs when he bought them. Over time enough people heckled him to teach him that scamming people wasn't cool haven't noticed his for sale add bumped since . if you want some let me know ill hook you up but i was also thinking of grabbing some fresh genes from Jeff's supply maybe we can just go in on an order.
