Some of you may know that I've been having trouble with a starving leopard gecko as of late. Well, she passed away on April 5th, and we realized she wasn't responding to treatment because she was infected with cryptosporidium, which is incurable.

So my original project was about breeding methods, but that has to be changed, obviously. I've changed it to leopard gecko diseases.

I don't actually need information on crypto itself, just statistics/incidents. So if any of you have stories about crypto, I'd love to hear them. Mostly, though, I am asking for mortality rates in your personal experience (i.e. not something you heard somewhere/found online). Whatever you can give me, I'll take. Number of leos killed by crypto, number of leos killed by other diseases, number of snakes killed by crypto, anything involving leos and/or crypto.

Info is greatly appreciated, and I need it asap. Thanks in advance.

Wow, really nasty deasiase, its the prime suspect of killling my 5 igs (most were rescued igs) I had before the copple I have now:( It was horrible and it came out of no were for no aparent reason, granted I didnt took the same amount of care I give to mine today, they were fed small amounts of animal protein all their lifes(like the books told me to) and were kept in group, but they had been that way for at least 5 years with no problem. Then all of the sudden they stoped eating, they aparently didnt digest their food, started getting weaker and weaker and started to perish despite my atempts to save them:cry: I still fell very gilty for not trying more but at that time I did my best:( Didnt had igs for 2 years after that and learned a few things: never have more then one ig by enclosure(stress could have been a big part of it), no animal food and pay atencion to the sligthest signs of hillness. Fortunatly it has worthed as learning experience and now both my igs have had prime health all of their lifes:D

I have never heard of crypto killing leopard geckos before.

Dude, it's wiped out huge colonies. One outbreak killed 200. I've talked to professional breeders; it definitely kills.

Thanks, Coura. I'll see if I can work that in somehow.
