hello my problem is I am running a 200x60x60 african cichlid tank but i can not get the water 100% clear, i have a fx6 and a aquael unimax 700 for filtration i am using a spraybar from the unimax i also have 2 10,000 lph wavemakers circulating the water in a clockwise direction. I have 30 fish all males ranging from 3' to 6' inches i feed nls pellets sparingly and spirulina flakes twice a week. My problem is the fish look okay and are always active and seem pleased to see me[ like the wife haha] but there is always small particules floating in the tank yet i see on youtube crystal clear aquariums how do they do it?

I used canisters on my 75 for awhile then went to a 75g sump, and I don't think I will ever go back to a canister. Do you have room for a sump? Maybe try putting filter floss in a couple of the compartments in one of the canisters also.

thanks,i have just put more polishing pads in and it seems to have done the trick, but it means more maintainence on my cannisters though.

I had this issue. Could not figure out what was causing mine. Used filter floss made my tank so much better but kept happening. Figured out someone kept overfeeding my fish when I was away. Too much waste accumulated into the next morning then it would be clear. I now hide my fish food. I did daily filter floss changes to get the excess food and waste out.

You might want to look at how much your feeding, water quality and just ammonia.

you could be onto something there, i am always inclined to give them a little extra at feeding time,i will try to cut down on my feedings thanks.
