Has anyone ever kept Ctenopoma acutirostre. I would like to get one as a tankmate for my Xenopus laevis, of equal size, but I am unsure of the likelyness of it attacking her. From what I've read, Ctenopoma are peaceful to fish they can't eat, but I don't have any firsthand knowledge. Any knowledge or opinions are appreciated.

I had a ctenopoma and it was one of my favorites. It actually was quite large (7 1/4") and very peaceful. It never bothered or harassed other tankmates, somewhat shy, but was very curoius to what was going on in the tank. It knew when someone was in the room and would come to the top and beg for a nibble of food (Yup...a hand fed baby). It would stalk feeder guppies but I never saw it actually eat them, although it probably did. I actually purchased the fish because I felt bad for it being beat down + bullied by some other fish (cichlids that were much smaller than him). It wouldn't even defend itself and cowered in a corner of the tank. From my experience, I would say they would probably be suitable tankmates.
