Ctenopoma Stunted?

So I've had my Leopard Ctenopoma since Oct 07' but he's only 3"-4" long he's been in a 20gal this whole time....Did he stunt or are they slow growers, I've seen some as big as a medium oscar.

They are slow growers. Dunno about that slow.
 
Maybe just slowed down growth, but they don't grow fast at all from what I've seen in the past
 
i'd say it's a combination of both. they are naturally sow growers but not that slow, step up the water change schedule may help some
 
in my experience once they hit 4 or 5" the growth slows, but early on they grow quickly. Maybe thats just his genes. If you have a bigger tank I would upgrade him, kept mine in a 100g and a 72g.
