Hi my ctenopoma rather than being really bright in colour is pretty dark and you can't really see it's markings very well i just wondered if anyone might know why this is.

What are you feeding? Is it the only one of it's kind in the tank? what else is in the tank? tank size? params?
Is it an ansorgeii?
Mine color up nicely under different lighting. Also, I feed them bloodworms, blackworms and glassworms with occasional feeder guppy fry. They don't really color up at all if you are keeping them with inappropriate species as well.
